Winter 2019 Trends

It is that time of the year to rug up again.  Fortunately for us, our winter days are mild which means we can still wear dresses and skirts of all lengths.  If it’s a bit chilly, just add tights and a chunky, edgy boot which is so in fashion at the moment.  Layer an amazing coat over the top and boom! Winter outfit sorted.  It’s time to embrace new trends in prints, colours and cuts, and there is a lot out there.  Here we take a look at some of the hottest new trends for Winter 2019.

Animal Print

To be honest, this never really goes out of style. Leopard features strongly this winter, in dresses, shirts and jackets.  But the animal print that is really in this season? Snakeskin.  Be it boots, bags, printed sets or dresses, snakeskin has been everywhere, especially at the most recent fashion weeks.  Huge amongst the bloggers and influencers. Embrace your inner animal this winter and hire some animal print at The Volte now.

Zimmermann nails this look every time and always produces the most beautiful dresses in the most delicate prints.  Be it a mini with voluminous sleeves or maxi dress, The Volte has you covered.

Silky Satins

The 90’s are back in a huge way in the shape of silky satin skirts and dresses.  A bias cut midi skirt is very on trend at the moment in an array of colours and prints but, what we love at The Volte are silky dresses. Be it a cute long-sleeved number or a silky slip. One could think slips are solely limited to balmy summer evenings, we say no.  Layer them with a cute t-shirt, plain, print or graphic logo, add jacket and presto, your summer wardrobe is transformed.  We have so many on offer at the moment, especially midis which seems to be the popular length.  Bec & Bridge, Rat & Boa and Maurie & Eve are the go to brands. Neutral Colours and Pops of Neon

The winter palette tends to be quite dark and dreary but this season is a bit different.  Following on from Autumn, cornflower blue is still popular but what we are seeing a lot of are neutral tones.  Think cream, beige and muted browns.  Alongside the neutral colour palette, we are seeing pops of neon.  One could simply add a bold piece into their outfit or embrace an all over neon look to really pop. Coats & Jackets

Although you can’t go wrong with a classic motorcycle jacket or trench, this season’s coats and jackets are all about going big.  Think fabulous textures, fluffy numbers, oversized parkas and long jackets, the bigger the better!  And a cardinal rule this season… Belt your coat! Show off that waist ladies.  Have a look at what’s on offer at The Volte! We have an amazing collection of furry numbers and a beautiful statement coat in this season’s must have leopard.

Other Trends We’ve Noticed

Keep an eye out for other trends we’ve noticed at fashion weeks and on stylists, bloggers and influencers. Tie-dyed is still seeing a resurgence, as are two piece suits in soft fabrics.  Clashing prints are huge, as are matchy, matchy outfits.  Cowboy boots are still popular but the chunky, edgy boot seems to be this season’s winner.  Think about mixing up textures too such as contrasting some sequins with some velour or velvet. It doesn’t matter what types of textures, just mix it up.
