Here’s a closer look at the standout trends from Australian Fashion Week 2024.
Sheer Fabrication: Ethereal Elegance
Sheer fabrics brought an ethereal quality to every runway this fashion week. Designers from Albus Lumen, Acler, Anna Quan to Karla Spetic and PE Nation all played with transparency, pairing sheer materials with solid pieces to create depth and texture. Sheer skirts dominated the runway, paired back with solid tops and outerwear. The use of sheer fabrics wasn’t limited to delicate pastels; bold hues and dark tones also made a strong impact, proving that this trend can be as versatile as it is beautiful.
Micro Shorts: A Bold Statement
Micro shorts made a triumphant return to the runway, proving that sometimes less is more. Designers such as Carla Zampatti, Victoria & Woods and P.E Nation embraced this daring trend, offering a variety of interpretations that ranged from sporty to chic.
