Where are you based?
Bendigo, Victoria.
What made you become a lender on The Volte?
I had a number of outfits I had used from Fashions On The Field that were not being worn regularly (and were too beautiful to sit in a wardrobe), so I decided to give The Volte a go. I never thought anything would come of it to be honest, and it has gone from 10 dresses to about 150 dresses in 12 months.
How long have you been a Volte lender?
Approx 18 months.
What style of fashion do you like to list on the platform?
I don’t have a certain style that I always stick to, but the dresses that I own and rent are items that I would wear myself – I don’t buy items that are the most popular or that everyone else loves. I stick to a style that suits me, A fashion forward Mum! No (or minimal) cut outs, rarely a Mini dress and I love a good print. Something that I feel un-apologetically myself in and always something comfortable!
What is your favourite personal go to brand?
Rachel Gilbert or Alemais – I find the sizing consistent, and fits a range of body types, making all women feel gorgeous. I also love a brand we do not see a lot in Australia – V Chapman, as well as Anna Mason. I have some of their dresses (and more arriving soon) and they are just so feminine and feel so beautiful to wear. The V Chapman “The Lilac Dress” is one of the most beautiful dresses I have worn.
What are your most popular current pieces that hire often?
Alemais siena bandeau midi, Alemais cabana midi & V Chapman the lilac dress in purple floral – pregnancy friendly
What is your take on hiring fashion to reduce the war on waste?
Being from a rural area, and being heavily involved in Agriculture means I see another aspect to the term ‘war on waste’. The fashion industry accounts for 20% of Global Water Wastage, and in Australian Agriculture, water wastage just isn’t an option. Anything we can do to reduce the way water is wasted is a good step forward (and by hiring you save water and also save $$$), so it is a win-win for everyone!
What are your best things about lending with The Volte?
1) My local dry cleaner told me that my business paid the wage for a staff member a few weeks ago – Supporting local business in a rural area is a very important factor for me, and now I can contribute to that!
2) It is easy – No fuss, no drama. I make a listing and Bang! It is done and ready for the consumers to view.
3) The Volte fits in with my busy lifestyle. I am a Mum and a Nurse. The Volte allows me to have additional income that fits around my crazy life!
4) I always get a prompt reply from Customer Support. Sadly, other lending platforms have significantly let me down (when claiming money back for a damaged dress), but never with The Volte.
5) I have developed some really good relationships with small boutiques who stock the dresses that I like!
