Winter Date Hotspots Around Australia

Going out on a date in winter can be such a drag.  It is cold and the weather is miserable.  Sure you’d rather stay in in front of the TV watching Netflix with the heater on and UberEats ordered.  But there are so many wonderful and warm places out there readied to be explored.  Here we take a look at some of the best places to go for a cosy winter date around the country.

Sydney

Where to start in Sydney?  So many options and places to choose from all over the city.  Different vibes for different days.  My pick though?  Somewhere a little bit kooky and well hidden.  Hidden behind a non descript door in the back streets of Darlinghurst is Shady Pines Saloon.  Oozing all the charm of the Mid-West USA, this bar is famed for its amazing selection of cocktails and bourbon (try one of their Whiskey Sours, you won’t be disappointed!).  It’s almost as famous for large selection of taxidermy as mounted fish heads that populate the bar and give it it’s cosy but quirky vibe.  This place pumps vintage rock and Johnny Cash, so you know you are in for a good time.  Although there are endless bowls of peanuts, there is no food on offer but fortunately, you can order in from elsewhere.  Go forth and enjoy!

Melbourne

So you want somewhere effortlessly cool that it also fun in Melbourne?  There are a number of restaurants and bars I could recommend in the city, South Yarra or St. Kilda, but my top pick? Naked For Satan in Fitzroy.  Downstairs, you get cheap and cheerful tapas, perfect for that budget date in a cool setting but upstairs is where the magic happens.  With views across the city as far as you can see and heaters everywhere, this rooftop bar has everything you could want.  From small bites to more substantial meals, amazing beers and booze, this is the ultimate place to kick back and relax.  Edgy?  Yes.  Fun?  Yes.  All round perfect date spot? Yes.

Perth

You can’t go past El Publico in Highgate for the Perfect Winter date hotspot in Perth.  Kitschy and cool with the raddest neon donkey sign you’ve ever seen, this place oozes date potential.  Modern Mexican, the vibe is mellow and the food amazing, perfect for sharing.  What’s even better about this place is the cocktail list.  Not just tequila and mezcal but a vast array of whimsical cocktails to satisfy your needs.  Cosy but cool, this is a perfect date spot, be it first date or twentieth date.  Don’t go past their tacos or the Beef Mogo Mogo balls!

Brisbane

I firmly believe that you can’t go wrong with pizza on a date.  What’s more fun than sharing a slice with your boo in a laidback restaurant?  Nothing!  That is why I recommend Julius Pizzeria in South Brisbane.  Set in a warehouse style space with exposed bricks, beams and concrete floors, this place oozes date night charm.  Sure it helps that this place’s pizza are amongst the best in Brisbane but the menu also offers amazing antipasto, perfect pastas and delightful desserts.  Their wine list is also superb so make sure to pull up a pew at the bar for a glass of nice chianti.  One thing to note, the venue has a limited bookings policy so get in early to avoid disappointment.

Adelaide

With so many new bars and restaurants popping up all over Adelaide, you’d find it hard to pick where to go.  One could even be more adventurous and take a trip to a winery or distillery for the day but my perfect idea for a cosy winter date?  Bank Street Social.  An underground bar in the city reminiscent of prohibition New York, this place has cosy leather booths to snuggle up in, lots of reclaimed timber and exposed bricks.  The place specializes in Australian drinks, known for its gin, craft beer and wines, not to mention its exhaustive cocktail list.  The moody bar also serves up fresh pizza using only the best local produce. Perfect for that after work date or something cool and cosy on the weekend.
