Fashion on the Field: Florals take the Lead!

Every year the racing season comes around it becomes the biggest excuse to pull out all the stops in order to dress to impress.

The WA Country Cups are not only the some of the biggest events on the annual calendar for avid racing fans but also for local fashionistas to unite and showcase their mutual appreciation for haute couture.

There was the most at stake this year with the Fashions on the Field grand prize being a $25,000 Racing Trip and Spending Spree to Hong Kong. Nine regional heats took place across Perth with each finalist being sent to Ascot on last week for final.

We spotted a few standout trends on the field this year, including the sexy one-piece jumpsuit. Lace and floral were the go-to textures amongst the finalists, who fit in beautifully with the luscious green surroundings of the regional fields.

And what’s a gorgeous dress without a fascinator to top it all off? Masquerade inspires pieces were favorites, with ladies sporting beaded mesh face coverings for that ever-so “mysterious bombshell” look. Angelic inspired headpieces were also all the rage with the Telstra Perth Fashion Festival showcasing their models strutting down the runway with gold halos at The Fashions on the Field High Tea.

Pilbara Heat Finalist Sarah McEwan took out the First Place at the Fashions on the Field finale held at the Winterbottom Race Day, at Ascot Racecourse.

Ms McEwan told WA Country Cups that Fashions on the Field was the perfect opportunity for ladies to feel glamorous and beautiful. “In the Pilbara, there are a limited number of times in the year that we can actually get frocked up and be as glamourous as possible,” she said.

The winner’s final frock was a stylish floral Asilio The Label number, the “Season Upgrade Dress”,  that stood out to the judges. Feel like a winner yourself and get Ms McEwan’s look at The Volte now for your next event!
